A worse typo than `rm -rf .' where `.' is /

After suspecting a Veritas vxfs problem, I discovered a bunch of files in /etc on this machine owned by UID 755. We do not have anyone with UID 755 anywhere on our network. Strange...

I then discovered everything in /sbin owned by UID 755, includng all the SIUD programs for managing volume groups and logical volumes.

Someone or something, a user or a program, wanted to `chmod 755 .' but instead `chown 755 .', or something to that effect.

Of course, the user responsible NEVER EFFING TOLD US SO WE COULD FIX IT, so this has been sitting there for weeks waiting to bite us.
